The Maryland School Counselors Conference 2026 is an important opportunity for iFTI and the iFTI of DC/MD/VA to connect directly with the people guiding students’ career paths. During this two-day Expo, we shared what the trades offer and helped school counselors better understand union apprenticeship opportunities. As a sponsor of the Sunday afternoon keynote, we also had the opportunity for DOT James Reamy (iFTI MD/DC/VA) to speak on stage to highlight careers in the Union and share his story. Having this spotlight and face-to-face conversations makes a big difference in breaking outdated perceptions about careers in the trades and helps build relationships so school counselors feel informed and confident recommending our programs to students. Overall, being there and directly reaching out helps us build connections to bring the next generation into the industry.
