iFTI Commercial Paint Curriculum Committee

This October 2024 the iFTI held its initial in-person meeting to kick off a “deep dive” review of the iFTI Commercial Paint curriculum. Six of the IUPAT’s commercial paint experts representing all IUPAT regions make up the iFTI Paint Curriculum Committee. With guidance provided by the iFTI Curriculum team and resources supported by K-Learning, the committee collaborated on prioritizing content, discussed emerging trends, and addressed challenges in painting and finishing. Their discussions are crucial to ensuring the iFTI’s curriculum remains relevant, practical, and in line with industry standards. Our members are provided with the education and training to help them build and sustain a career in the commercial painting industry.

This is a hands-on, working committee. Each member is responsible for reviewing a set number of the 45+ courses, divided among the group, to be completed over an agreed-upon timeline. The iFTI and K-Learning team provided hands-on instruction on how the curriculum should be reviewed and instructed on how to contribute their comments, suggestions, and recommendations.

The value of participating on this committee cannot be overstated. Each member brings unique expertise and insights gained from their work in the field, allowing us to refine and enhance the curriculum to better prepare students for real-world challenges. Being involved on any of the iFTI trade curriculum committees brings personal gains for those involved through meaningful debates and information exchanges that help them realize different perspectives and understanding of familiar topics; not to mention the benefits of meeting and developing relationships with fellow IUPAT member experts in their field.
If given an opportunity to join an iFTI trade curriculum committee, take it! Become part of a team of experts working together to make a meaningful impact for you, our members, and the industry as a whole.
