GLZ 5436 Door Hardware Technician

Earlier in May, IUPAT Glaziers participated in a pilot delivery of the newly developed Door Hardware Technician course at the Finishing Trades Institute of Southern New England, DC11. Developed by Angel Galozza of DC11 during the iFTI Master Instructor Capstone class, the course equips IUPAT Glaziers with skills and knowledge to safely identify, remove and install door hardware components, including locks, exit devices, and door closers.

Students experienced a variety of classroom learning and theory that included exposure to specific hardware components, and then performed hands-on exercises installing and adjusting components on mock doors in the lab. The class was very well organized and the instructors in attendance are well-equipped to offer the training locally.

Proper installation procedures are a key focus of the course. The program is practical, hands-on, and designed to give Glaziers the confidence and expertise to tackle any door hardware installation or maintenance task. The iFTI is excited to add this new content to our Glazier curriculum!
