The Council on Occupational Education (COE) appeared before the National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) in Washington, D.C., on Wednesday, July 22, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time, as part of its continued federal recognition review by the U.S. Department of Education (ED).

NACIQI subsequently voted 11–1, with five members absent, to accept ED staff’s recommendation to continue the agency’s national recognition with an amendment to align the agency’s monitoring and compliance reports to be due in nine months rather than 12. The committee also removed the finding related to arbitration following revised language approved by the Accreditation, Innovation, Modernization Committee during negotiated rulemaking in June. However, the recommendation is not final; the Senior Department Official will issue the final recognition decision within 90 days.
